Waiting for Gorgo (2009)

Buried deep in the bowels of the British Ministry of Defense bureaucracy at Whitehall, the mysterious agency D.M.O.A has survived for almost Sixty years, even if it has now dwindled to no more than two employees.  But what does it do, and why is it still funded after all these years?

And who is the mysterious “she” they are waiting for?

What a lovely little comedy!  We’ve got three players, some playful dialogue (including a very familiar opening dialogue which riffs off a famous play which has absolutely nothing to do with Giant Monsters.  Or Oversized Animals), some thoroughly inventive ideas, references to a classic British Science Fiction film, and two great British actors (including Geoffrey Davies, who starred in that nearly endless British series of “Doctor” movies).

It’s about as near perfect a short film you could ask for — and it even has giant monsters!

And, best of all, you can enjoy it for free on Vimeo.
